You can make your purchase of the book help benefit any of three
organizations whose work I value highly: Pan Massachusetts
Challenge,
Habitat for Humanity,
and the
American Cancer Society.
For those of you who wish to do so, I will be pleased to forward $5.00
from each book you purchase to any of these three organizations as a
charitable contribution. (Be sure to take the deduction on Schedule A of your tax
return!) Just specify which charity on the order form.
Or, between
now and the end of August, you can enjoy a free autographed copy of the
book for a $15 tax deductible contribution to the Pan Mass Challenge.
Either send the order form and a check (payable to "Pan-Mass
Challenge") to me, or go on-line to http://www.pmc.org/egifts/
and make your donation there. My eGift ID# is PS0099. Be sure to include your address and email so
I may mail you your copy of the book.
Why, you
ask? The book is dedicated to my sister, Arlene Pipkin, who died in March,
2002 after a four year dance with breast cancer. Several years earlier she
served as the first Executive Director of the Habitat for Humanity chapter
in Goshen, Indiana. In honor of her work, in 2007 the Elkhart County Chapter
dedicated a house in her name that I had the pleasure of helping to build.
The Pan Mass Challenge is now in its 32nd year
raising funds for cancer research and treatment at the world famous
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Last year, 5,000+ cyclists (including my
brother and me), raised over $30,000,000 for the 3rd consecutive
year (and 100 cents of every rider
raised dollar goes to Dana-Farber!) Watch the fun of this year's ride - 2
days, 192 miles across Massachusetts - at
www.pmc.org.
If you
know of groups who might wish to use book sales to help raise funds for
similar groups, please call or
e-mail me to discuss arrangements.
Thank you.
